Bordeaux by Bicycle: 3-Hour Immersive Tour by Monsieur Bacchus
Bordeaux was called Burdigala long before it became the world's wine capital. With Monsieur Bacchus, you ride through 2,000 years of history in 3 hours, with a local who actually lives here. Over about 13 flat kilometres, we pedal from the Roman Palais Gallien to Saint-André Cathedral and the medieval Grosse Cloche, where we stop for a canelé from our artisan partner Cassonade. We cross the Garonne on the Pont de Pierre for the best view of the UNESCO-listed riverfront, take a break at Darwin, the creative hub of the right bank, then ride back over the Chaban-Delmas bridge to the Chartrons, the old wine merchants' quarter. Our guides don't read a script: they share their stories, their favourite spots and their best tips. Where to eat tonight? Which wine bar is worth it? Just ask! Small groups (12 guests max per guide), comfortable Dutch bikes and helmets included. No megaphone, no rush: just good company and a city to fall in love with.

- Specialized infant seats are available
- Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- This tour takes place on city streets alongside traffic, so we recommend riders who feel comfortable cycling in an urban environment. If you're unsure or haven't cycled recently, feel free to reach out — we're happy to help you decide if this tour is right for you.
- Getting there: Public transport in Bordeaux can be unpredictable, so we recommend allowing extra travel time. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure — we offer a 5-minute grace period, but tours leave on schedule to respect everyone's time. Unfortunately, late arrivals, missed departures, and last-minute cancellations cannot be refunded.
- E-bike & classic bike groups: If the minimum number of participants for a dedicated e-bike or classic bike group isn't reached, we may combine both into a single group. Don't worry — the route, the distance, the guides, and the fun stay exactly the same. It's not about the bike, it's about the experience. Minimum age 12. Travelling with younger children? Contact us before booking.
- Weather: in case of heavy rain or dangerous conditions, the tour is cancelled. Light rain, showers or fog (common in spring and autumn) don't stop us: the tour goes ahead whenever conditions allow, so a light poncho is always a good idea.
- A small team, a big passion: Monsieur Bacchus is a small, locally run company. Every tour is the result of thoughtful preparation to make your experience safe, personal, and unforgettable. By joining us, you're supporting the local economy and becoming part of Bordeaux's story. If your guide made your day, a tip is always a lovely way to say thanks.
- Route: your guide may adapt the itinerary depending on the weather, local events or traffic. The highlights and the spirit of the tour stay the same.
