In the late afternoon, set off on a two-hour sunset trek across the sand, arriving at a traditional camp just as the sky turns gold. Watch bread being baked the old way, buried in the hot sand, then share a traditional Saharan dinner around the campfire. As night falls, the city light is gone and only stars remain over the dunes. Sleep in your own private desert tent, and at dawn climb back onto your camel for the two-hour ride to Douz, watching the Sahara wake in the sunrise light.
