Along the way, you’ll uncover the origin of Ghent’s name and step back to the very beginnings of the city, whose history stretches back nearly 1,400 years. Stroll past highlights such as Portus Ganda, the charming yacht harbour, the iconic three medieval towers — Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, the Ghent Belfry and Saint Nicholas’ Church — and the historic Graslei and Korenlei quays, once the vibrant heart of medieval trade. But Ghent is far more than its landmarks. The city is home to three peaceful beguinages, remarkable museums and green parks.
