Patrician, executioner and bone carver. Brunswick in the Middle Ages.
On our tour we bring the fascinating medieval Brunswick back to life in its alleys, tweets and clints. In the Middle Ages Braunschweig was an important trading town and a member of the Hanseatic League. Under the Welf duke Henry the Lion, it developed into a powerful and influential city in the 12th century. Discover with us unique half-timbered houses, medieval marketplaces and an ancient, still preserved and hidden defensive passage. Our walk begins at the historic Baker's Club. Passing the time-honoured Martino-Katharineum grammar school with its famous students, you will pass the medieval Old Town Market to the Jakob-Kemenate. Now it is not far to the Bone Hauerstrasse. After a short stop we continue to the picturesque Michaelisviertel, which has its own exciting stories to tell.
