Itinerary
Welcome to the stunning Serra de Sintra, a beautiful mountain range located a few kilometers from Lisbon. This natural and cultural treasure attracts visitors from all over the world. With its green hills, valleys and ancient rock formations, the Sierra de Sintra offers a unique combination of nature and history, making it a truly special place to explore.
The Queijada da Casa do Preto is one of Sintra’s most traditional and appreciated sweets. With a steady base and a rich filling, slightly caramelized, made with fresh cheese, eggs and sugar, this little delicacies conquered generations. Founded in 1931, Casa do Preto quickly became famous not only for the quality of its cheesecakes, but also for the welcoming atmosphere and the privileged location at the entrance of Sintra. The name “Casa do Preto” pays tribute to the nickname of the founder, a charismatic figure of the village at the time. Over the years, this house has retained its reputation as one of the best places to taste the most authentic flavors of Sintra, being a perfect stop for a sweet break overlooking the mountain.
Hidden near the historic center of Sintra, Fonte da Sabuga is a quiet and charming corner. Dating back to the 17th century, it is known for its fresh and mineral-rich water. According to local tradition, water would have healing properties, especially for eye problems, and many came to drink or wash their eyes here. Surrounded by vegetation and located on a quiet path towards the old village, the fountain offers a relaxing break. For its history, legends or simply as a moment of rest, the Sabuga Fountain is a small, but special, treasure of Sintra.
The first monument we saw was the Castle of the Moors, an impressive fortress dating back to the period of the Islamic occupation and the conquests of D. Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal. Although we do not enter, we appreciate the castle at a distance, with its walls serpenting through the hills and offering stunning views over the region of Lisbon to the sea.
The highlight is the Pena Palace, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will make a guided tour of the park, around the palace, with access to the terraces and the cafeteria. We avoid entering the real rooms, as the large influx of visitors can impair the quality of the experience. The real essence lies in exploring the quiet gardens, viewpoints and hidden corners that surround the palace.
Discover one of Sintra’s most charming locations: visit the famous Initiatic Well, explore the underground tunnels, and stroll through magical gardens—all within this unique property, which today is one of the region’s top attractions.
Welcome to Colares, a charming village on the edge of the stunning Serra de Sintra. Known for its natural landscapes and centuries-old vineyards, Colares offers a quiet and authentic atmosphere. During the visit, we will take a panoramic tour of the village, with time to appreciate the narrow streets on the sidewalk, the typical houses and the quiet squares. We will also make a stop for lunch at a typical restaurant where you can enjoy regional flavors in a relaxed atmosphere.
Discover Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Portugal and of all mainland Europe. Enjoy stunning views and take unforgettable photos at this iconic spot known as the “end of Europe,” where the earth meets the vast ocean.
