Khau Pha Pass, one of the most famous mountain passes in Northern Vietnam, is located in Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province. At an altitude of over 1,200 meters, this winding road stretches more than 30 kilometers, offering breathtaking panoramic views of terraced rice fields, lush valleys, and remote hill tribe villages. The name “Khau Pha” means “Sky Horn” in the local Thai language, symbolizing its high position among the clouds. Driving along the pass, you will feel as though you are touching the sky, surrounded by majestic mountains and endless rice terraces.

Tu Le Valley, nestled at the foot of Khau Pha Pass in Yen Bai Province, is one of Northern Vietnam’s most stunning valleys. Surrounded by towering mountains and endless terraced rice fields, Tu Le is not only a scenic stop but also a cultural heartland of the Thai and Hmong ethnic minorities. The valley is especially famous during the “Golden Season” (September – October), when the rice terraces turn bright yellow, creating a breathtaking landscape that attracts photographers and travelers from all over the world.

De Xu Phinh is one of the three most famous rice terrace villages in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai Province, along with La Pan Tan and Che Cu Nha. Recognized as part of Vietnam’s National Heritage Landscapes, this area showcases the ingenuity of the Hmong people, who have cultivated terraced fields along steep mountain slopes for centuries. Perched at over 1,000 meters above sea level, De Xu Phinh offers dramatic views of layered rice fields cascading down the hillsides, changing colors with each season. From the vibrant green of early summer to the golden glow of harvest in September–October, the scenery is ever-changing and always breathtaking.

Tucked away in the highlands of Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai Province, the Bamboo Forest is a tranquil and less-discovered attraction that adds a unique charm to this famous rice terrace region.
