This natural wonder (designated by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site) is worth visiting for its picturesque landscape alone, even if the monasteries weren't there. The ancient Greek monasteries blend perfectly with the surrounding environment, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience. A private transfer will take you from Volos to Meteora, where our licensed guide will meet you and provide insight into the region's geology, history, Orthodox religion, and the impact Meteora has had on Greece over the centuries. The view from the rocks is breathtaking. Feel the breeze and hear the bells of the communities. The monasteries are still active, with six in total. We will select and visit 2 or 3 of them, depending on their opening days and hours. After exploring Meteora, we will take a short break for free time in Kalambaka before returning to Volos.
