Follow the legendary path of Hotu Matu’a, the first king of Rapa Nui, and explore the island’s most iconic archaeological sites. Departing from Hanga Roa, the journey begins at Ahu Akahanga — the “Platform of the King” — believed to be Hotu Matu’a’s burial site. Continue to Rano Raraku Volcano and quarry, where nearly 400 moai were carved from volcanic rock, and visit Ahu Tongariki, the island’s largest platform with fifteen majestic statues. The tour proceeds to Ahu Te Pito Kura, home to the tallest standing moai, and to the nearby magnetic stone “Te Pito o Te Henua,” known as the Navel of the World. Finally, visit Ahu Nau Nau and the beautiful Anakena Beach, where Hotu Matu’a is said to have first landed.
